Metal-Free Crowns
Metal-Free Crowns

All- Ceramic Crowns
Many patients are frustrated with the grey or black colour of their crowns at the gum line.
It used to be that when porcelain was used for crowns, it had to have a metal base in order to be strong enough to hold up well. This metal created a shadow at the margin or gum line which many find objectionable. However, with advanced bonding technologies , dental crowns can be made out of pure ceramic.
What does this mean for you ? Metal- free crowns enables the cosmetic dentist to create the most natural restorations possible and conserve tooth structure at the same time.
Since there is no metal in the crowns we make, light passes through the special aesthetic yet ultra durable porcelain to create an appearance that is exactly tooth like. Nothing is like Ceramic for mimicking the appearance of natural teeth. The gloss, the translucency, and the vitality are an exact match. And with the trained and artistic eye of cosmetic dentist; Dr. Kaviani, we can match your existing teeth in colour, shape, and character.
Metal-based crowns compared with Ceramic Crowns
Ceramic crowns are translucent, just like natural enamel. but when porcelain is baked onto metal, it requires an opaque layer that detracts from the natural beauty.
- Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns consistently develop a black line at the gum line. dentists try to hide this line under the gum, but they're not always successful.
- Ceramic crowns have a seamless margin that is invisible, so there is no black line.
- Ceramic crowns require advanced bonding technology that many dentists aren't familiar with. Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns can be cemented with basic techniques that are taught in dental schools.
- Beautiful, artistically crafted Ceramic crowns from a trained cosmetic dentist at Lane Ends Aesthetic & Implant Centre will leave you with a smile you will be proud to show off!

The Procedure
Your cosmetic dentist; Dr. Kaviani, first removes any decay or damaged areas of the tooth.
She then makes a mold of the remaining tooth structure from which the Ceramic crown will be created.
The individually designed and hand crafted crown is fitted over your remaining tooth, and adjusted until both you and your cosmetic dentist are satisfied with it. It's then permanently bonded to your tooth, giving it a complete new look & surface.
If you have any old porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns that have started to show their metal lining as a black streak near the gum line, you could consider replacing them with all-ceramic crowns.
